The 172d SBCT returned to their home base in Alaska by December 2006. The 172d SBCT was deployed in Baghdad, Iraq, to reduce the violence there (there were reports of 59% reduction in violence). They worked under the most stressful wartime conditions and they were also on an extended deployment. We all owe them a great deal of gratitude and admiration. They are brave and heroic fighters.
One of the cool things we were able to do for the 172d, otherwise known as the 'Arctic Wolves,' was to present them with a banner prepared by the Unilever NASCAR team, the "Ultimate Chargers," run by Evernham Motorsports. The banner hung in the 172d's TOC (Tactical Operations Center) and was created by the race team's agency, Bulldawg Marketing, and signed by all the members of the Evernham racing team, including multiple-winning NASCAR driver, Kasey Kahne. Thanks to the Unilever NASCAR team for preparing this wonderful banner for this very deserving group of soldiers.
We were proud to support the 172d Stryker Brigade Combat Team and we are glad they are finally home.
