Mobile Security Squadron TWO was formally commissioned on 20 January
2003. The command was originally comprised of three Mobile Security
Detachments (MSD 21, MSD 22 and MSD 23) and three Embarked Security Detachments (ESD221, ESD 222 and ESD 223) which conducted a wide range of Anti-terrorism
/Force Protection (ATFP) missions throughout the world.
In February 2008, the command became Maritime Expeditionary Security
Squadron TWO. This realignment of forces transitioned the Mobile
Security Detachments to Maritime Expeditionary Security Detachments 221, 222, and
223, and Boat Detachment 211.
Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron TWO is currently deployed to
Patriot, Kuwait Navy Base. With the Coast Guard's Port Security Unit
THREE ONE TWO, the squadron comprises Task Group 56.5. The Task Group
provides highly trained, specialized maritime security teams throughout Kuwait
the North Arabian Gulf to protect U.S. national security assets at sea,
in port, and ashore.
